The Sabor Fleet is composed of a basic modular cruiser design that can be linked up into larger and more powerful ships: the more ships that can link up, the larger and more powerful the vessel. While the official Sabor Ship designations are not known, it is clear that the Sabor carrier class is a different design than the M class cruiser. The ship resembles a cylinder that up to 8 other M Class cruisers can link onto in order to give the carrier added protection.
Though the ships do not spin, their design seems to be based on a centripetal design judging by the 4 thru ship landing bays that are positioned equidistantly at 90 degree intervals around the ship’s center axis. While there were limited engagements with the Sabor carriers early in Second Sabor War, any engagement that did involve them usually proved to be more costly. When the carriers were present early in the war it meant there was usually some kind of invasion or landing operation in the works. Towards the end of the war, and under the leadership of Admiral Owden, the Sabors suffered crippling defeats. With every further engagement, the Sabors became more and more desperate. Soon, Sabor carriers were seen carrying what was called the X craft. Because the Sabor missiles could not emerge from a launch from phase space without causing the warhead explode as the weapon crossed the threshold from phase space to real space, the X craft was developed as a suicide craft to emerge out of phase space within the shields of the Olympian ship to ram through the hull and detonate.
While the Sabor Scarab fighter was more than match for the Olympian Banshee fighters, the new phase-capable Valkyrie fighters could send them turning tail and running. While the Scarabs brought a fear and intimidation factor to the battle, there were defenses against them. There were fighters that could now phase out to meet them. The Olympian ships have an impressive array of defensive weapons. If those two barriers failed, there were the ships shields, and then armor on the hull. The X craft circumvented all but the hull and hull armor. While the X craft had a marginal affect on the outcome of the war, it made ships’ captains and crew edgy. Since it was the Sabors carriers that delivered the X craft towards wars end, the carriers became primarily targets once they were detected in the battle theatre.
