The Midus class destroyer is a small little destroyer, but it can still pack a punch. While Galacia Designs was not entirely in its element in building smaller ships, the Midus class destroyer was a success. The class was an earlier design that came into service about 10 years after the end of the First Sabor War. The lessons learned in the Midus class were then implemented in to the Thorn class cruiser that entered service shortly after the Midus class. Other ships to come online were a result of the original work of the Midus class were the Juno and Jaeger class of light cruiser, as well as the Oceanus and Courageous class destroyers.  Though the Midus was class was out-classed by all of its predecessors, it did help lay the groundwork for this success. The ship class served well into the Second Sabor War, but not as well on the battlefield.  During the larger battles earlier in the war, ships of the Midus class were easy neutralized when they were singled out. Even so, it was found to be excellent at protecting tanker convoys. The class served very well at this task for the rest of the war. The class is still in service and serving in its primary role of escorting convoys in areas of the empire that are more hostile and escorts are needed to chase down marauders that would look to hijack a load. A tanker full of high grade plasma could power a smaller settlement for years, and be a commodity to buy defensive equipment with. The Midus class is agile and light enough to have excellent acceleration to run down marauders, yet still have the needed firepower - especially in numbers - to pose too much of a threat for a band of marauders to bother with.
