The Coyote class frigate is a class that was produced by Neosho Designs. Neosho saw the benefits of the Tipton and Intruder class frigates as well as the shortfalls of the Shark class frigates. Since the shipbuilder had proven itself with many civilian cargo and transport vessels that traveled the empire daily, and had been able to supply a needed military asset in the Manta and Skiff class corvettes, the builder was given the go-ahead to produce the Coyote class heavy frigate.

The Coyote Class is 200 meters longer than the Intruder class and 200 meters wider. The wider stance allowed for close to twice the gun turrets of any other frigate class. This means that the Coyote class can lay down impressive defensive fire. The Coyote also boasted angled side armor to deflect weapons fire that would make it past the shields.

Neosho designs built thier reputation on being innovative and cost effective, having worked in the civilian market where any added material meant less cargo that could be carried, which caused the ship owner to lose resources. So there was no dead weight. This philosophy in ship production held well with the Coyote class and resulted in what was a very well balanced ship that was highly armed and armored, but did not sacrifice maneuvering or crew safely to achieve those results.
